Becoming a chiropractor requires five years full time education, with an emphasis on biological science, neurology, diagnostic imaging, physiology, spinal adjusting techniques and clinical studies. Chiropractic care is safe, drug and surgery free. It is the third largest and the fastest growing health care profession.
What Happens at Each Appointment?
On your first appointment:
We will ask you to fill in a form about your current and past health. Your Chiropractor will then talk to you about any health concerns you may have and how chiropractic care may benefit you. X-rays may be taken if required on site and your next appointment will be scheduled.
On your second appointment:
Clinical findings and x-rays if they were taken will be discussed with you. We will suggest a recommended schedule of care for you to gain the best possible results from chiropractic care.
How Long Will it Take?
Everyone’s spine is unique and their chiropractic care is tailored specifically to their age, condition, individual health and goals. The number of adjustments varies depending on each patient. Many people report improvement within a week or two of frequent visits. Neglected spines, however, can often experience slower progress. Visits become less as the spine stabilizes.
What are the Stages of Chiropractic Care?
Initial Intensive Care
This is where most patients begin their chiropractic care. Visits may be frequent but depend upon your individual condition. The primary focus is to help manage and relieve your most obvious symptom.
Rehabilitative Care
With your symptoms diminished the objective is to stabilise spinal function. Muscles and soft tissues of the spine are strengthened during this stage of care, helping to avoid a relapse.
Wellness Care
With the maximum restoration of spinal function many patients have their spine checked on a regular basis. This type of preventative care can save time and money by helping little problems from becoming serious.
Progressive and Comparative Examinations
During the course of your care, reviews will be scheduled to monitor the changes to your body and to make sure you are receiving the maximum possible benefit. If there are other areas of your health you would like more information about, or help with, this is an ideal time to discuss these issues.
Our Maintenance Program
Helps support the final stages of healing and helps detect and resolve any new problems. Muscles and soft tissue of the spine are strengthened during this stage of care, helping to avoid a relapse and prevent little problems becoming serious. Each adjustment builds on the one before. Maintenance ensures your spine’s level of optimal health.
Similar to dental checkups, maintenance care is designed to monitor problem areas in the spine and nervous system, helping the body to correct these problems as they arise. We encourage our patients to develop a greater understanding of their health through chiropractic care.
Our aim is to see our patients evolve from the current sickness model of health care to one of prevention and wellness.
Appointment Times
We endeavour to run to schedule with appointment times. Sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances, such as an acute patient, which may put us slightly behind schedule.
Your chiropractor has designed a special course of care for your individual health needs. In order to achieve the results you desire please make certain you attend your appointments when scheduled. If you need to change your appointment, please try to give us as much notice as possible so you can schedule an alternative appointment at a convenient time. This allows us to fill your appointment space.
