What is Chiropractic?
With more and more people looking for a natural approach to healthcare, chiropractic has become the fastest growing healthcare profession in the world.
It’s now the third largest primary healthcare profession in the western world after medicine and dentistry, and is legally recognised in over 45 countries.
Chiropractic is about helping the body to work at its best. Your nervous system, which controls all the functions of your body, is protected by your spine. Sometimes the stresses, strains and traumas of daily life cause the spinal joints to loose their normal motion irritating the delicate nerves that exit at that level. By making small adjustments to the spine, chiropractors restore normal function so that the spine and nervous system can work to its potential.
The philosophy is simple: If the spine is functioning well and if your nervous system is working properly the body is better able to heal itself and perform at its full potential. A healthy spine and nervous system can help anyone at any time in their life, regardless of age, condition, presence of symptoms.
The New Zealand College of Chiropractic has its campus in Auckland. It takes five years of full time study after which a chiropractor sits NZ Board Registration examinations. Chiropractors may then further their education with a PhD, masters or other post graduate study.
