Chiropractic care during pregnancy is a safe and effective way of managing many pregnancy conditions. Techniques are modified for each stage of pregnancy with the use of special adjusting tables or pregnancy pillows for comfort.
Chiropractic care can include specific adjustments to the spine and pelvic joints, muscular and ligamentous release techniques and home advice and exercise.
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment of the pregnant patient to restore proper pelvic structure and function. This balances the mother’s pelvis, muscles and ligaments, which remove constraints to the uterus, and allows the baby to get into the best possible position for birth.
While any position of the baby other than vertex may indicate the presence of imbalance and in-utero constraint, the Webster technique is best known for its success (75-95%) in turning breech babies. With proper fetal positioning, there is a significant decrease in birth trauma caused by intervention.
