Mudgway Chiropractic we are committed to providing you with a high standard of quality care in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Through injury playing professional cricket in England, I was influenced by the philosophy of chiropractic care and its preventive nature… it just made sense.
I studied for five years at the NZ College of Chiropractic in conjunction with a science degree at Auckland University. I first worked for Mudgway Chiropractic as a locum in Whangarei and fell in love with Northland.
When Dr Clive Mudgway retired in 2000, we took the opportunity to start our own practice and stay in Whangarei and have continued running a successful practice here ever since.
I studied for five years at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic in conjunction with a science degree from Auckland University, graduating in 2000. After practicing for four years I decided to further my education with post graduate study in chiropractic pediatrics and pregnancy, an area which I love and feel passionate about.
I graduated with my pediatric diploma in 2007, during which time I had my own three children, Will, Evie and Grace. I continue to have an exciting practice seeing pregnant women, babies, children and regular patients.
Through my teenage years I was immersed in the dance world of Whangarei. Throughout my time dancing I witnessed people with many different injuries and issues. This is when I first discovered Chiropractic. The idea that the body is intelligent and has an innate ability to heal really resonated with me. I then endeavoured to study Chiropractic and after five years of study, I emerged with a Bachelor of Chiropractic degree from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, graduating with an Academic Merit Award. Since then I have worked in both Auckland and Whangarei and am now excited to join the team at Mudgway Chiropractic.
I am thrilled to be taking the opportunity to work alongside Dean and Emma and be part of an already successful team. I look forward to continuing to build an exciting and diverse practice here at Mudgway!
I grew up in a small beach community called Whananaki which is situated on the east coast of Whangarei. My siblings and I were all very active and health orientated and taught from a young age that health is wealth. We relied on our bodies to function well to enjoy all things sport and outdoor adventure.
My sister had surgery for the correction of scoliosis at age 13 and was unable to participate in surfing, running, hiking and sports for 12 months as she healed. The inability to do the things she loved had a massive impact on all aspects of her life and led me to start thinking about the importance of a well-functioning spine and what it means for an individual’s quality of life.
After graduating I moved back to Whangarei to start work with the Mudgway Chiropractic team. I love looking after people from all walks of life and enjoy seeing all members of the family thrive under chiropractic care.
In my free time you will find me at the beach with friends, family, and my dog. I enjoy surfing, fishing, reading, and hiking.
Ingrid Kaptein has relocated from Christchurch to join the team at Mudgway Chiropractic.
Chiropractic appealed to Ingrid from a young age, as she always wanted to help people naturally, and not sit behind a desk to do it.
She believes it has a vitalistic philosophy, meaning it gives her the chance to assist people regain and maintain health by working with their natural ability to do this. She loves the opportunity to interact with lots of different people from babies to elderly, athletes and most of the workforce. The highlight of her job is seeing people change, get well and live the life they want to.
Hi my name is Debbie and I am a Chiropractic Assistant at Mudgway Chiropractic. I became part of the team in January 2010. I share front of house with Sally. We are first point of contact with our patients when they visit the clinic. I love the interaction I have with the patients and meeting new people. Seeing the benefits our patients receive through chiropractic is a wonderful part of this industry and to know we are helping people.
After completing my schooling in Whangarei and working in retail I moved to Queensland for 8 years where I was in the fashion industry. Moving back to New Zealand I met and married my husband Grant and acquired my current position. I have many interests including health and fitness, travel, fashion, spending time with family and friends, gardening plus many more!! I look forward to welcoming new people and seeing improved health. See you soon!!!!
Hi my name is Yvonne Dunn. I joined the Mudgway Chiropractic team in February 2020 and work the front of house with Sally and Debbie. I have come from a banking and financial services background so customer service is what I love. Chiropractic care is very new to me but I love watching our patients improve after each visit and the friendly interaction with patients is a great part of my job.
I am originally from Dargaville but have lived in Whangarei since the early 80’s. I am married with 3 daughters, 2 who live overseas. In my spare time I love mountain biking, fishing, going to the gym and spending time with friends and family.
Late 2022 I had planned to retire from almost 15 years of top end retail. It wasn’t long before the door had opened. Emma from Mudgway Chiropractic approached me to join their front desk/ Chiropractic assistant team. An opportunity I couldn’t resist. So here I am, the Cat out of the bag.
I have had an amazing warm welcome from everyone that works here. One week in and Im loving my new roll. Many thanks to Dean and Emma, Deb and Yvonne for all your help and guidance they have given me.
For those that don’t know me, I have 10 years banking history as well as 7 years dental chairside nursing. My spare time is taken up maintaining our Mcleods Bay home/garden and enjoying the company of grandchildren, family and my 4 legged buddy George.
I look forward to meeting you all.
